Wastewater Operations

Reuse/Recharge, Soil Aquifer Treatment (SAT) Facility

Virtually all components of the wastewater treatment process are reclaimed. Under the facilities Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) the effluent (treated wastewater) may be discharged to the Soil Aquifer Treatment (SAT) Facility, which filters the effluent through the soil for addition to the underground aquifer. This effluent is commonly called recharge water. For every acre foot of water that the City “recharges” to the SAT Site, the City receives a water credit. The City additionally allows effluent that is not recharged to be used by local developers for turf irrigation on golf courses or for construction project dust control.
