How can residents help?

In Stage 3, residents are required to restrict water use in the following ways. Your early action can help avoid further restrictions that affect us all. If you need help with these steps, call 623-932-3010 and ask for water conservation.

·          Water only on Saturday and Wednesday. Re-set timers using the day of week function.

·          Water only between 8 pm and 6 am.

·          Wash all vehicles at commercial car washes that recycle water or postpone washing them.

·          Do not hand-wash them.

·          Shut off fountains and decorative water features unless they are used for indoor cooling.

·          Turn off outdoor misters. Stay inside until it is cooler instead.

·          Postpone over-seeding for winter or skip it. Wait until we have plenty of water.

·          Backwash your pool to your landscaping or to a water truck for re-use. If you put it on your landscape, you won't need to water.

·          Do not re-fill pools or fill new ones.

·          If potable water is needed for construction, request permission to use it from Water Services (623-932-3010).

Please turn off reverse osmosis and water softeners until water supplies are restored. This action is voluntary. It will save water that would be used for all regeneration and recharges of filters.

What is the City doing?

City water staff are working hard to restore supplies and deliveries. Communications staff will distribute information on the water supply and restrictions through the media. City staff will vigorously educate people about water waste and restrictions and enforce restrictions.

In Stage 3, the City will restrict its use in these ways:

·          Outdoor watering will occur only on Sunday and Thursday.

·          Outdoor watering will occur only between 8 pm and 6 am.

·          City vehicles will only be washed at commercial car washes that recycle water.

·          Streets, sidewalks, driveways and parking lots will only be swept with reclaimed water, and only for dust control.

·          Fountains and outdoor misters will be shut off. Indoor fountains used for cooling may be left on - with signs posted.

·          Fall over-seeding will be stopped except where all reclaimed water is used and posted.

·          Pools will be backwashed to landscaping or to a water truck for re-use.

·          Pools and artificial lakes will not be filled or re-filled.

·          City irrigation will not exceed 60% of base ET. Goodyear Ball Park will be exempt.

·          Trenches will not be compacted with water.

·          Lines will be flushed to water trucks or landscaping if feasible.

·          Construction water use will be limited and only on approval of Water Services.

·          The City may reduce reverse osmosis use to Council-approved levels to reduce water losses during treatment.

What can the commercial sector and institutions do to help?

·          Water only on Monday and Thursday.

·          Water only between 8 pm and 6 am.

·          Irrigate only to 60% of base ET.

·          Postpone washing sidewalks, driveways and parking lots except for dust control or sanitation. Use efficient methods.

·          Wash all vehicles at commercial car washes that recycle water or postpone washing them.

·          Shut off fountains and decorative water features unless they are used for indoor cooling.

·          Turn off outdoor misters. Stay inside until it is cooler instead.

·          Postpone over-seeding for winter or skip it. Wait until we have plenty of water.

·          Backwash your pool to your landscaping or to a water truck for re-use. If you put it on your landscape, you won't need to water.

·          Food service: Serve water to customers only upon request. Post table toppers to explain if this is not normal practice.

·          Hospitality: Launder linens daily only upon request. Post notices if this is not normal practice.

·          Stop using water to compact trenches.

·          New home building may be limited.

·          Construction permits will not be issued for high-water uses.

·          Construction meters may be limited.

·          Construction water use will be limited and only on approval of Water Services.

How can industrial users help?

In Stage 3, industries are required to help in these ways. Your prompt assistance can help avoid further restrictions that affect us all. If you need help with these steps, call 623-932-3010 and ask for water conservation.

·          Water every other day. If your address ends in an odd number, do all watering on odd-numbered dates. If your address ends in an even number, do all watering on even-numbered dates.

·          Water between 8 pm and 6 am.
