Public Art Project on Bullard Avenue Underpass

The art project on the walls of the Bullard Avenue underpass was designed by Valley artist Laurie Lundquist. Inspiration for the bridge’s mountain and cloud motif came from a public meeting of Goodyear residents. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) paid for the art as part of their Bullard Avenue Transportation Interchange project.

ADOT constructed the east and westbound freeway entrances and exit ramps at Bullard Avenue, as well as widened Bullard Avenue under I-10. The new interchange will serve Estrella Falls Regional Mall and the surrounding retail shopping centers north of McDowell Road between Bullard Avenue and Estrella Parkway. The project completed in spring 2008.

Area developers will eventually widen Bullard Avenue to three lanes in each direction from I-10 north to McDowell Road. The City of Goodyear, in partnership with EJM Development Co., will also expand Bullard Avenue to three lanes in each direction from I-10 south to Van Buren Street.
