Becoming a Goodyear Firefighter

Thank you for your interest in the Goodyear Fire Department.  The following criteria will help you determine what is required in becoming a Goodyear Career Firefighter:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Have a valid Arizona Driver's License
  • Have an Arizona State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic Certification
  • Have passed the CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) Certification (within the previous 12 months)


Firefighter in action

The above certifications may be obtained at community colleges such as Estrella Mountain Community College, Glendale Community College or Phoenix College.

Applications for firefighter will be accepted only during posted recruitment periods. You may also fill out a job interest card and be notified once the Goodyear Fire Department resumes their recruitment. Again, thank you for your interest!

Volunteer and Reserve Firefighters

The Goodyear Fire Department does not have a Volunteer or Reserve Firefighter Program.
