Police need Help in identifying motorist who struck officer


goodyear, Ariz. – Shortly after Midnight early Sunday morning Goodyear Police Officers were attempting to stop several cars that were involved in street racing. Approximately 30-40 vehicles were suspected of racing in the 14100 blk of W. Broadway in Goodyear. Goodyear Police officers spotted several cars traveling north on Litchfield Rd. near the Phoenix/Goodyear Airport.

Sgt. Chris McCall, a 10 year veteran of the force, was staged on Litchfield at the airport entrance as the cars raced past him. Sgt. McCall was out of his patrol vehicle at this point when one of the cars in the group swerved toward him. Sgt. McCall fired his duty weapon at the car, just prior to being struck by the car. Goodyear Fire medics responded and transported Sgt. McCall to St. Joe’s hospital. Thankfully, Sgt. McCall did not sustain any serious injury.

Although police have several leads, the driver of this particular car has not been identified. The police are asking the publics help with any information they may have.
