Door Manufacturer Creating 300 Jobs in Goodyear
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Cookson Company, Inc., will expand its operations in Arizona with plans to build a new facility on South Litchfield Road and create up to 300 jobs, Goodyear city officials announced today. Cookson builds many types of commercial doors for fire and smoke control, security, and hurricane protection.
The company intends to build 160,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space on 15 acres. About 140 workers now employed at the company’s Phoenix location will work at the new facility once it opens, while another 160 employees will be hired in the near future. Employment in Goodyear will include manufacturing, engineering, administrative, and executive positions.
“Goodyear has everything companies like Cookson need to operate and grow their businesses,” said Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord. Company CEO, Andrew Cornell, stated, “Goodyear offers an ideal location for our growing operations and local government has been extremely helpful in the process.”
Construction of the facility will begin in 2013.
Cookson was a family-owned business until about four years ago, when it was sold to Cornell Iron Works. Cookson also has operations in North Carolina. Cornell is headquartered in Mountaintop, Pennsylvania and is a one hundred eighty five year old family business that makes the same products as Cookson.
