October 2011 - Sheri Lauritano, Councilmember

Communications is the Key

In the age of smart phones, texting, e-mail, and Facebook, we are living in the era of immediate communication. Technology can help us all work smarter and more efficiently. As a member of City Council, I believe that we can use technology to better stay informed with the citizens of Goodyear. It helps us know what you are thinking and where you stand.

As issues come up, we are able to obtain feedback from the citizens whether they are in town or away. It also allows us to obtain answers to our citizens? questions quicker and with more in-depth responses. Tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and Four Square help to increase transparency in government and community involvement.

However, we also need to take time to meet with you in person during listening sessions. Myself and Councilmember Campbell, recently conducted one in Estrella. I plan to hold more community forums with our residents and with the members of the business community. I want to hear about your thoughts and concerns. It is always beneficial to look at a situation or an issue from a different perspective.

Remember, your council is working for you and we are here to listen. The quality of representation is directly related to the quality of feedback. Please feel free to e-mail, call, or write when you have a question or concern. I look forward to meeting with you all soon.
