Truth in Taxation Hearing - Notice of Tax Increase

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – In compliance with section 42-17107, Arizona Revised Statutes, the City of Goodyear is notifying its property taxpayers of Goodyear's intention to raise its primary property taxes over last year’s level. Goodyear is proposing an increase in primary property taxes of $131,321 or two percent.

The proposed tax levy increase will cause the City of Goodyear's primary property taxes rate on a $100,000 home to increase from $108.97 (total proposed taxes that would be owed without the proposed tax increase) to $111.15 (total proposed taxes that would be owed with the proposed tax increase).

This proposed levy increase is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The increase is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides.

All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on the tax increase that is scheduled to be held at 6 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, at Goodyear Justice Center, 185 N. 145th Avenue (Southeast corner of 145th Avenue and Van Buren), Goodyear, Arizona. This news release meets requirements for public notification under state law.
