Goodyear Names Matthew Ligouri As Assistant To Council
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The City of Goodyear announced today that Matthew Ligouri has been hired as Assistant to the Council, according to Intergovernmental Programs Manager Romina Khananisho. Ligouri was selected following an interview process that included four finalists among the 249 total applicants.
Ligouri has four years of experience in working with elected officials and providing outreach to the communities they serve. As Goodyear’s new Assistant to the Council, he will provide a wide variety of professional support to the Council and also represent them at meetings when required.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Matt’s caliber and experience join our team,” Khananisho said. “After four years of working in Senator McCain’s Phoenix office, he brings with him vast constituent relations experience that will equip the City’s Mayor and Council with the support they need to serve the community.”
Ligouri spent most of his time during the last four years working for Sen. John McCain in a variety of roles at the longtime politician’s Valley offices. After graduating from Arizona State University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, he interned at the Senator’s Tempe office and also served as an intern on McCain’s presidential campaign. Ligouri also briefly served as a consultant for his family’s private security company in San Francisco from 2008-09 during a sales transaction.
Ligouri returned to the Phoenix area during the summer of 2009 to work at McCain’s Phoenix office as a Constituent Advocate to attend community events, corporate meetings and congressional briefings around Arizona on behalf of the Senator. He briefly served as a Field Representative for McCain for eight months in 2010 but returned to his duties as a Constituent Advocate until accepting the Assistant to Council position with the City of Goodyear.
Ligouri is currently working towards his Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University. His first day of employment with the City of Goodyear is today.
