Goodyear to Host 9/11 Memorial and Firefighters’ Pancake Breakfast on Sept. 9
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The public is invited to join the Goodyear Fire Department for the fourth annual 9/11 Memorial and Pancake Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Goodyear Fire Station 183, located at 3075 N. Litchfield Rd., just south of Indian School Road and next to Goodyear Community Park.
This year’s event marks the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that took the lives of police officers, firefighters, military personnel and civilians in one of the largest acts of terrorism on American soil.
The flag raising begins at 7:30 a.m. with the Goodyear Fire and Police Honor Guards, followed by remarks by Fire Chief Mark Gaillard, Police Chief Jerry Geier and special guests. The breakfast is hosted by the United Goodyear Firefighters Local 4005 in partnership with the City of Goodyear Fire Department. Breakfast is free, but donations are welcome to help support firefighters’ charities. After breakfast, an array of safety demonstrations will be held including K-9 demonstrations, HALO helicopter, Old Red the fire truck and more.
Special thanks to Wigwam Resort, Hilgers Dentistry, Target, Hickman’s Farms, Fry’s Food Stores, Sugar & Spice Bakery, Starbucks and Luke Air Force Base for their generous support.
