(Goodyear, AZ ) The City of Goodyear Fire Department recently promoted members of the department to fill a current vacancy for Fire Captain and three new Captain slots that were created to help maintain fire standards as the community experiences its eighth year averaging at least 16% growth. Eric Kleinschmidt, Steve Mann, Darrin Green, and Adam Becker, pictured left from right, emerged as the top four firefighters during the recent Goodyear Fire Captain's Assessment Center.
The assessment center process tests the candidate's overall fire service knowledge, personnel management skills, and effective management of various emergency situations. Testing included a written exam, management exercises with role players, as well as fire ground and other emergency scene simulations.
Fire Captain candidates must meet minimum educational and time requirements to be considered for testing. Together, the four new Fire Captains have 35 years experience working for fire departments. Steve Mann, with 11 years of public safety experience; Eric Kleinschmidt, with eight years experience; and Darrin Green, who has seven years of public safety background, have all been with Goodyear Fire Department since February 2002. Adam Becker has been with Goodyear since April 1997 and volunteered for Goodyear Fire before being hired.
