Contractors and Retailers Can Save Money by Attending Transaction

Privilege Sales Tax Workshops

 

(GOODYEAR, AZ) Goodyear’s Tax Auditor Marvin Carter invites contractors and retailers to attend the workshops in the City of Goodyear to learn what they need to know about privilege sales tax to conduct business in Arizona.

 

“Due to a recent change in the state sales tax law which now makes development fees deductible, contractors might want to save themselves some money by attending these tax workshops to learn how to deduct these fees, “ said Carter. He added, “Also, if you want to start a business in Arizona, The Small Business Workshop is great for getting a lot of valuable privilege tax information all at one time.”

Small Business Workshop – Free!

Monday, Oct. 23. from noon to 4 pm

Room 117

Designed for those who are considering starting a business in Arizona. Licensing requirements, the application process, business classifications, tax rates, Use tax, Withholding tax, and general taxability issues are discussed. CPE credit not available for this workshop.

 

Retail Workshop

Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 8 am to noon

Room 117

Cost: $15

Covers specific taxability issues within the Retail Classification. Deductions and exemptions for retailers are thoroughly defined and discussed. Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Code, the exemption certificate (form 5000), tax rate tables, program vs. non-program cities, and Use tax will be covered. It is strongly recommended that this class be taken PRIOR to the TPT Retail Workshop. CPE credit available upon request.

 

TPT for Retail Workshop

Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 1 to 5 pm

Room 117

Cost: $15

Guides retailers through the completion of the transaction privilege tax reporting form. The determination of tax rates and the use of various forms will be explained. Sample problems and factoring worksheets are provided for a better understanding of the reporting process. Some of the specific documents covered include the tax rate tables, the TPT return, and the exemption certificate (form 5000). A calculator is a must! It is strongly recommended that this class be taken AFTER the Retail Workshop. CPE credit not available for this workshop.

 

Contracting Workshop

Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 8 am to noon

Room 230

Cost: $15

Covers specific taxability issues within the Contracting Classification. Deductions and

exemptions for contractors are thoroughly defined and discussed. Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Code, exemption certificates (form 5000 and form 5005), tax rate tables, program vs. non-program cities, and Use tax will be covered in this course.
