Goodyear Hosts Statewide Government Purchasing Conference

(GOODYEAR, AZ) The National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) will hold its 17th Annual Conference in Goodyear on November 14 at the Tuscany Falls Country Club in PebbleCreek.  This is the first time the event has been held in Goodyear.

The Honorable James Cavanaugh, Mayor of Goodyear, will deliver the opening remarks and the Goodyear Police Department Color Guard will present the colors.

Goodyear Procurement Officer Bob Carrier, co-chair of the Regional Conference Committee said, “Goodyear has taken an active role in assisting with the conference because the local chapter of NIGP provides many opportunities for professional government personnel to continually improve their skills. With all of the growth in the smaller cities in the West Valley, procurement is becoming more and more important. These regional conferences are important in the continuing education of procurement personnel and the development of the local chapters.”

Goodyear Chief of Police Mark Brown will hold a session on Homeland Security at the conference which is expected to attract a record number of attendees – approximately 250.

The last two years, the City of Goodyear has been recognized as a fully-certified procurement agency.
