Security Alarm Annual Permit Renewal Fee Due Now

 

(GOODYEAR, AZ) – This is a reminder to Goodyear residents that security alarm permits are mandatory and the annual renewal fee is now due.

 

According to a 1999 City ordinance, security alarm permits are mandatory and are good for only one year – from Jan. 1 until Dec. 31.  It must be renewed each year.  The cost for the renewal is $10 if renewed within thirty (30) days prior to expiration.  If the permit is renewed within thirty (30) days after expiration, a $20 administrative fee will be assessed.  If a permit is not renewed within thirty (30) days after expiration, the permit will be discarded by the City and a new permit must be obtained.  There is a $250 fine for a false burglary alarm and $500 fine for a false robbery/panic alarm or fire alarm if Public Safety is dispatched and the permit is not up to date.

 

According to the City of Goodyear’s Alarm Ordinance Coordinator, Chilynn Benedict, “It is the goal of the City of Goodyear to reduce the number of false alarms that the Public Safety departments are responding to.  The alarm ordinance allows us to work with the alarm users as well as the alarm businesses to reduce these false alarms and reduce the cost of public safety response.”
