Goodyear Provides Residents Special Christmas Tree Disposal Containers

(GOODYEAR, AZ)  The City of Goodyear encourages its residents to dispose of its live Christmas trees by placing them in one of the five special disposal containers that will be in place throughout the city through Jan. 7, 2007. These containers are marked “Christmas Trees Only.”  Trees placed in these special containers will be chipped up and taken to Sunfresh Farms where the chips will be used as groundcover for dust control.

Christmas trees should NOT be placed in either the beige curbside trash container or the green curbside recycling container.   Since green waste is not recyclable at curbside, putting a tree in the green container will “contaminate” the other recyclables.   While green waste is allowable in the beige trash container, a Christmas tree would have to be cut into very small pieces to be placed into the beige container so as not to damage it or to keep it from sticking out too far and not allowing the lid to close.

Goodyear asks that residents take off all decorations, tinsel and ornaments before placing a tree in any of the five disposal containers located at the following sites:

  • PebbleCreek - 3645 N. Clubhouse Dr.
  • Wildflower Ranch - East of Shooting Star Drive on Harrison
  • Palm Valley - East of Litchfield Rd., corner of Monte Vista and Palm Valley Blvd. by the park
  • Estrella Mountain Ranch - Corner of 181st Ave. and Elliot Rd., adjacent to the Community Ball Field
  • Loma Linda Park - 430 E. Loma Linda Blvd. at the northeast corner of the community Center parking lot.
