FREE Business Registration Program Begins in Goodyear

(GOODYEAR, AZ) Goodyear is starting a new Business Registration Program that differs from most other cities in that they are not charging a fee.

“Our focus is not to regulate business or enhance revenues by charging the usual fee, but rather to gather information which will be helpful to various City departments such as Economic Development, Fire, and Police,” said Business Registration Technician Tina Daniels who is implementing the program. “It will also be helpful to other businesses, both current and future, and our citizens.”

Beginning Jan. 1, 2007, all those engaged in business (including home businesses) within the City of Goodyear will be required to apply for a Business Registration Permit and to renew it annually. The only exceptions are Park & Swap vendors who need to apply for a special business license at the Park & Swap facility itself, private owners renting no more than one property and peddlers going door to door who MUST apply for a Peddler’s License through the City’s Police Department.

The City is asking for the cooperation of all businesses to make this program a success.  Those local businesses that have already been identified by the City are being mailed a business registration application during the month of December and have 30 days after receipt to fill it out and send it back to the City.

Anyone owning a business in Goodyear (including a home business) that does not receive an application from the City by Jan. 1st is asked to go online and complete the business registration application. The application can be found at  Click on Forms and Applications on the menu to the left on the homepage. After filling it out, just e-mail it to

Once a business has received its Business Registration Permit from the City, Goodyear expects the permit to be displayed in a prominent place within the establishment.

“By knowing what businesses are located in our city, we will have a better understanding of job growth in Goodyear,” states Joe Pizzillo, Finance Manager who manages the new registration program.  “We can also work together on public safety to better determine business fire prevention inspection schedules that help maintain overall safety, to understand what types of materials or chemicals are stored inside businesses, and to have the name of the responsible party to contact in case of police or fire emergency.”

If you have any questions about the program, please call Tina Daniels at 623-882-7874.
