Goodyear Employee Fill-A-Need Program a Big Success

(GOODYEAR, AZ)  A team of elves made up of Goodyear City employees delivered over 300 gifts and over 2000 pounds of food and household items to 25 families, including over 100 children, who were facing hardships this holiday season. The donations made by City employees and private sponsors filled two full-size moving vans.

“The delivery event was incredible in many ways,” stated Jeff Fine, Goodyear Municipal Court Administrator who coordinated this year’s Fill-A-Need program.  “Both those who delivered, and those who received, were deeply moved by the experience.”  He said there were lots of smiling faces, lots of hugging, and a fair amount of crying involved in Saturday's delivery event.

Besides donating gifts, many City employees donated several hours to wrapping the presents. The primary private sponsor was Wal-Mart.  Other private sponsors included Newland Communities, Silverstate Helicopters, the Pebble Creek Unit 20 Lunch Bunch, the Firefighters Association, the Police Officers Association, W. Steven Martin, Storage Solutions, and Budget Truck Rental (Avondale).

Due to overwhelming support, the Fill-A-Need team members were able to help 10 more families than they had initially planned for.
