Goodyear Announces 2007
Street Preservation Projects
(GOODYEAR, AZ) Now that warmer weather has arrived, the City of Goodyear will begin it annual street sealing program as part of its 2007 Street Preservation Projects. Sealing the cracks in the streets is essential to roadway maintenance. By preserving existing streets with regular sealing, cities are able to maintain their roads longer and put off costly and inconvenient major reconstruction projects until absolutely necessary.
In some areas, rubberized chip seal will be used to help extend the life of pavement and seal roadways where cracking is more severe. In other areas where finer cracks exist, slurry seal will be sufficient to repair the roads. In areas where the sealant will no longer improve the street’s condition, the pavement must be removed and replaced and a new overlay applied.
Goodyear residents will be notified via doorhanger 48 hours in advance of work in their immediate neighborhood areas. Message boards will be used in advance of the work on major arterial streets to advise motorists of possible delays. The tentative schedule for this project is:
