Goodyear to Break Ground on New Community Park

(GOODYEAR, AZ) A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Mon., July 2 at 9 a.m. for Phase I of the new Community Park in Estrella.  The ceremony will be on the site of the new park, just north of Estrella Foothills High School, 13033 S. Estrella Parkway.

In April, 2005, the Goodyear City Council approved a master plan for the community park to be built adjacent to Estrella Foothills High School.  That master plan was created after a three- day design charrette attended by residents from Estrella, and representatives from Estrella Foothills High School and Sun MP (Newland Communities).

Phase I of the Community Park in Estrella will be 14 acres and include three lighted Little League fields, a soccer field, a concession building and a separate restroom building.  The park will also house a maintenance yard, 100 parking spaces and lighted walking paths.  Construction should begin within a couple of weeks with expected completion in early 2008.

Design on Phase II, which is 10-15 acres, will begin this summer with construction expected to start in July 2008.

This is the second community park in Goodyear.  The first is at 3151 North Litchfield Road, just north of Thomas Rd.
