New office hours for Goodyear’s Community Development and Engineering
GOODYEAR, AZ – Beginning Nov. 5, Goodyear’s Community Development and Engineering offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The offices are located in the Venida Office Complex just south of Van Buren Street, 195 N. 145th Ave., Building D.
The Community Development Department has two divisions: Building Safety and Planning and Zoning.
The Building Safety division regulates construction and occupancy, and enforces the city’s building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and zoning codes, and other state and local laws and ordinances.
The Community Development staff handles the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations, Design Guidelines and International Building Codes. The department provides development services information to the public, reviews and processes General Plan amendments, rezonings, variances, subdivision plats, site plan reviews, use permits, development agreements and new building construction plans. This staff also inspects new buildings to ensure compliance with City ordinances.
The Engineering department is responsible for implementing Goodyear's Engineering Design Standards and Policies Manual. The department works with the Planning and Zoning Division and the Public Works Department. Engineering develops and maintains Graphical Information Systems for land, water, sewer and other infrastructure systems for the City, and is involved in updating the Capital Improvement Plan and the water and wastewater master plans.
