Second Annual Guns vs. Hoses Football Game

 

GOODYEAR, AZDon’t miss the Second Annual Guns vs. Hoses Football Game. Goodyear’ Police Officers Association will square off against United Goodyear Firefighters Association at 12:30 p.m., Nov. 17, at Desert Edge High School, 15778 W. Yuma Road, Goodyear.

 

The United Goodyear Firefighters Association is playing to replace Palm Valley Elementary School’s worn out playground equipment. The Goodyear Police Officers Association is playing for the benefit of the family of Officer Brian Howe, who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). Donations raised by both teams will also help support the Arizona 100 Club, a nonprofit organization assisting the families of public safety employees who are injured or killed in the line of duty.

 

Opening ceremonies will be presented by the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Luke Air Force Base.

 

The half-time show will feature a K-9 unit demonstration, visits from McGruff and

Sparky, and a display of police and fire equipment, including the command van and a new SWAT assault vehicle. The Desert Edge High School marching band and cheer squad will also perform. 

 

Admission is free. Donations of any amount are accepted at the gate. T-shirts, food and beverages will be offered for sale during the event.
