Van Buren construction complete
GOODYEAR, AZ – The detours are done and the lanes are all open with newly painted striping on Van Buren Street in Goodyear. Construction is complete and a freshly paved and widened road is ready for travel in both directions.
A new traffic light has been installed on Van Buren Street at Bullard Avenue, easing traffic enroute to businesses located on Bullard Avenue north of the intersection, including Snyders of Hanover, Southwest Specialties and companies in the Goodyear Commerce Center. Bullard Avenue underpass at Interstate 10 remains closed for construction by ADOT until March 2008, restricting access from the north to the Bullard Avenue businesses.
A few finishing touches still need to be added to Van Buren Street, including restoring areas alongside the roadway to their pre-construction condition and installing manhole covers, said Al Gonzales, a project manager in Goodyear’s engineering department.
Thermoplastic paints will be applied over the next few weeks, replacing the temporary lane striping after the asphalt and other materials have had a chance to “settle,” Gonzales said. “We’ll have a few lane restrictions in place then, but the work should take just a day or so to finish.”
