GOODYEAR, AZ – Don’t miss Goodyear Rodeo Days, Feb. 15-17 at Estrella Mountain Regional Park Rodeo Grounds. For three fast-paced days, contestants will compete in roping, bulldogging, saddle and bareback bronc riding, bull riding and barrel racing. Top Senior Pro competitors compete in this sanctioned rodeo event.
Friday is Slack Day. Admission is free and there is no charge for arena activities. Gates open at 10 a.m. and competition runs from 2 to 4 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday, gates open at 11 a.m. Rodeo events begin at 2 p.m. and end around 4 p.m. Weekend admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and military, and $4 for youngsters four to 12 years of age. Children younger than four are admitted free.
During Saturday’s intermission, teams of local business people will vie for top honors in the annual Corporate Calf Dressing Contest. Watching these “city slickers” trying to put clothes on a calf is worth the price of admission.
A BBQ dinner under the stars with entertainment and dancing begins at 6 p.m. on the rodeo grounds, and costs $6 per person.
The Boot Scramble is featured during Sunday’s intermission. Cheer for the three- to five-year-olds as they search the arena for their pint-sized boots.
The Estrella Mountain Regional Park Rodeo Grounds is located in Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Take Interstate 10 to Estrella Parkway and go south across the Gila River Bridge. Turn left on Vineyard and follow the signs to the Indian Springs entrance.
