GOODYEAR, AZ – With widening of Interstate 10 expected to begin in February, residents are encouraged to attend public meetings on February 7, 12 and 13 addressing the road work. The project will widen I-10 between Interstate 17 and State Route 85. An open house format will be used and residents can drop in anytime during the meeting. There will be no formal presentations, but ADOT representatives will be on hand to answer questions. The same information will be given at each meeting.
The widening of I-10 is one of the first elements of a 20-year Regional Transportation Plan for Maricopa County that was funded through a voter-approved half-cent sales tax. A commitment of $2.6 million by Goodyear, Avondale and Litchfield Park was instrumental in getting the widening project moved up to 2009 from 2011. Goodyear’s contribution is $1.5 million or 11 percent.
