Belly dancing into Spring
GOODYEAR, AZ – Build your skills in rhythm, posture and technique while learning the basics of belly dancing in the American Tribal Style. This is a form of belly dance that focuses on group improvisation, ethnic-style costuming and the dynamics that form between dancers. Everyone learns to lead and to follow in ATS, so that the flow of movement and energy is every-changing. Must be 18 years of age or older. These eight-week classes are taught by Cari Smith. Enrollment minimum-five; maximum-eight.
Belly Dancing 1
6:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesdays, April 8 through May 27
Beginning Belly Dance Level 1. This class teaches a variety of standard movements and drill familiarity with those moves. The class also teaches a cueing system for these moves, and group dynamic exercises. 8 weeks.
Belly Dancing 2
7:45-8:45 p.m., Tuesdays, April 8 through May 27
Intermediate Belly Dance Level 3. Prerequisite: Level 1, 2 and 3 of Beginning Belly Dance (these may be taken out of sequence).
Classes will be held at Goodyear Community Center. Register online at www.goodyearaz.gov/recclasses, or in person at the Goodyear Recreation Office, Fire Station #3, 3075 N. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85395 (Just north of Thomas Road).
Cost is $60 resident/$65 non-resident, for each eight-week session.
