Goodyear Councilmember Osborne named finalist for two prestigious awards

GOODYEAR, AZ – Goodyear Councilmember Joanne Osborne has been nominated as a top 10 finalist for two of the most prestigious awards presented to women in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Osborne, who was nominated by the Goodyear Communications Office, is a finalist for the Arizona Woman magazine’s “Woman of the Year Award,” and for the magazine’s “Golden Heart of Business Award.”

Both awards are presented at the Arizona Woman’s annual Who’s Who in Business Luncheon, recognizing outstanding women in our community. This year’s event will be held on May 22, 2008 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa.

The award applications recognize Osborne for her business prowess, employee mentoring skills and the loyal customer base of Osborne Jewelers. Additionally, she is acknowledged for her civic work as a member of Goodyear City Council and as a former Planning and Zoning Commissioner in this fast-growing city. Her community work with the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce is highlighted, along with her involvement with the local YMCA and its Teen Action Council.

The “Woman of the Year Award” honors the achievements and contributions of a visionary business or public policy leader who has achieved an extraordinary level of professional success. The winner of this award is a woman who has made a clear and positive impact in Arizona through her profession. She has not only furthered the growth of her company, but has empowered her employees and had exemplary success in creating customer loyalty. She is also involved in the community and has helped those women succeed.

The “Golden Heart of Business Award” acknowledges an Arizona woman who is deeply entrenched in the community. This award is presented to a woman who gives back through contributions of time or resources and has made the Valley a better place to live. She not only cares about her community, but makes a significant contribution on a personal level. She has developed nurturing relationships with her employees and customers.
