Seniors trip to Turf Paradise Winner’s Circle
GOODYEAR, AZ – More than a dozen happy seniors from Goodyear smiled for the camera Wednesday in the Turf Paradise Winner’s Circle, posing with first-place winner Chris Landeros riding El Enmascarado.
A Day at the Races, a senior activity coordinated by the City of Goodyear’s Recreation Office, was one of many fun-filled trips offered to residents this Spring.
The outing included transportation in a city-owned van from Goodyear to Turf Paradise racetrack in Phoenix, lunch, desert, unlimited refreshments, race program and race terminology guide, Club House seating and a Winner Circle photo.
Race number 5 was named the City of Goodyear Purse, in honor of the visitors from Goodyear. After the race, the group gathered in the Winner’s Circle with the owners, trainer and winning horse for a special photo opportunity.
Each visitor places their own bets during the day-long event, which includes a total of nine races.
The next senior event is an April 9 trip to Casino Arizona (The Talking Stick) in Scottsdale. Cost is $5 per person and includes transportation and Players Passport. On April 23, seniors can enjoy and up-close and personal tour of the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, home to Super Bowl XLII. Cost is $6 per person and includes transportation and private tour admission.
