Volunteer Appreciation Celebration
GOODYEAR, AZ – More than 100 volunteers will be honored by the City of Goodyear on Thursday, May 1, during our first Volunteer Appreciation Celebration, an event that is sure to become an annual tradition.
Volunteers will be treated to a special dinner, a slide show featuring the remarkable people who share so generously of their time and talents, and a chance to win many raffle prizes. Mayor Jim Cavanaugh, Community Activist Norma Chastain will be among the speakers to address the audience. Goodyear’s new City Manager, John Fischbach, will be introduced by Deputy City Manager Jim Nichols.
More than 300 volunteers have devoted more than 5,000 combined hours to the City of Goodyear Volunteer Program since July 1, 2007. They help out at signature events like the Star Spangled 4th of July Celebration, Howling Halloween and Holly Jolly Festival. They make special projects possible, such as Safety Expo Day, Make-a-Difference Day, CERT classes, and many more. They work on committees like Planning & Zoning, Brownfields Citizen Advisory, and Arts & Culture. They are greatly appreciated.
Volunteers have saved the city more than $100,000, based on the Points of Light standard valuation of $19.51 per hour.
The City of Goodyear gratefully acknowledges the enormous contribution made by these volunteers.
