Goodyear residents swim free at YMCA this weekend

GOODYEAR, AZ – Goodyear residents are invited to swim free at the Southwest Valley Regional YMCA while the Goodyear Swimming Pool and the Splash Pad at Goodyear Community Park are temporarily closed for cleaning. Proof of residency is required.

City officials closed the Goodyear pool, located at 430 E. Loma Linda Blvd., and the Splash Pad located at Goodyear Community Park, 3151 N. Litchfield Rd. early Tuesday
after tests for the parasite Cryptosporidium were positive. Crypto can cause diarrhea, nausea and stomach cramps.

Both the pool and splash pad are being super chlorinated, a process that kills Crypto and takes up to a week to complete. Both locations will reopen after cleaning and retesting is complete.

In the meantime, Goodyear residents are encouraged to enjoy swimming this weekend at the YMCA free of charge. Identification must be presented before entering.

The Southwest Valley Regional YMCA is located at 2919 N. Litchfield Rd., at the corner of Thomas Road. The pool is right next door to the Goodyear Community Park.

Saturday, August 2 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday, August 3 – 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
