Save money, save water, with Goodyear’s free Home Irrigation Checkup

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (Jan. 9, 2008) – Goodyear is offering home irrigation checkups to residents.

The City of Goodyear will send a water specialist to residents’ homes and check out the plumbing fixtures. They’ll look for obvious leaks, broken and missing parts, and make sure outdoor irrigation and sprinkler systems are on the best settings.

Customers must be present to provide access, turn on sprinklers and irrigation systems, and open the timers. Appointments will take one to two hours.

In households south of I-10 that use more than 13,000 gallons per month and those north of I-10 that have a monthly water bill averaging more than $95, the checkup will likely turn up ways to stop leaks, conserve water and save money.

The Home Irrigation Checkup is an easy way for customers to learn how to spend less and help the city reduce its water usage, especially during those peak summer weeks. If residents use less water, the city may be able to postpone building new water treatment and infrastructure facilities, and avoid the costs of buying additional water rights.

Goodyear residents living south of Interstate 10 who are city water customers with up-to-date accounts can sign up online for a limited number of free water audits. The home irrigation checkup service is also available to Goodyear city residents who live north of I-10 and are LPSCO customers, at a cost of $150.

Log on to www.goodyearaz.gov, click on Forms & Applications, and fill out the Water Irrigation Checkup Application to request an appointment time for the free Home Irrigation Checkup.

The appointments will be available on specified days from the week of January 26 until June. The appointments available are limited and will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
