Art in Civic Spaces reception features
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (Feb. 20, 2009) – Meet the “Art in Civic
Spaces” artists whose works are currently on display in Goodyear during a special
reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 26 in Goodyear City Hall,
190 N. Litchfield Rd. Featured artists Nancy Christy-Moore, Jim Witkowski of
Goodyear, and Christine Evola will be on hand to discuss their work.
Nancy Christy-Moore of
Glendale has exhibited her work internationally. She attended Columbia College, the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and Art Center College of Design in
Los Angles. She teaches various forms of watermedia and for this exhibition she
is exhibiting abstracted equine and floral paintings on the second floor of
Jim Witkowski’s brilliantly
colored landscape photographs of such Western sites as the Canyonlands and
Horseshoe Bend are on display on the first level of City Hall. The Goodyear
resident attended Pasadena City College, Art Center of College of Design, and Phoenix College.
Arizona State University fine arts student Christine Evola works with several
forms of sculpture including foundry, neon, wood and fiber. The artist uses fleece and burlap
to create voluminous, suspended pieces. She has exhibited her work at First
Studio Gallery and the Icehouse Gallery in Phoenix, and the Step Gallery in Tempe.
The “Art in Civic
Spaces” rotating exhibition program enhances City spaces and gives artists
opportunities to show their work in a public venue. This event is sponsored by
the Arts and Culture Division of Community Services.
