Unofficial election results available after 8 p.m. March 10

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (March 6, 2009) – Unofficial election results will be posted to the Goodyear website shortly after 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 10. Official results are expected to be provided by Maricopa County election officials by Tuesday, March 17.

Candidates, supporters and the public are welcome to join the Goodyear City Clerk at City Hall in Room 117 as they await receipt of an email from the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office containing the unofficial election results. These unofficial results will be promptly posted to the city’s website, and hard copies will be distributed to those in attendance.

Unofficial results will also be available on the Maricopa County Recorder’s Main Elections website at http://recorder.maricopa.gov/web/elections.aspx. To view the results after 8 p.m., March 10, log on to the main webpage, http://recorder.maricopa.gov/electionresults/ and mouse over the "Elections" tab at the top of the page to get a drop down list that has the "Election Results" link within it. Content of the page will be updated with March Election info and will include a link to both a "scrolling list" of results and a "non-scrolling list" of results.

All ballots received by the county through U.S. Postal Service or from the Goodyear City Hall drop-off location on Election Day will be counted Wednesday, March 11. These ballots, when counted, could significantly affect the final results of the election. Therefore, candidates and voters alike are reminded that only UNOFFICIAL results will be provided after the polls close on Election Day. The Goodyear City Clerk will not prepare any percentage result calculations on election night, at the recommendation of county election officials.

Voters must follow up on Voter Identification issues, if any, no later than 5 p.m., Friday, March 13.

Goodyear City Hall will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. for voters to vote in person or to drop off their sealed ballots.
