Art reception features works of local artists
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (April 20, 2009) – The city of Goodyear is hosting an Art in Civic Spaces reception in City Hall. Guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists whose art is on display in City Hall. Join us from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Goodyear City Hall, 190 N. Litchfield Rd.
Hand-crafted masks and other art works by student artists from Estrella Foothills High School will be featured in City Hall beginning April 28. Framing was donated by Fast Frames.
Buckeye artist Catherine Ruane will exhibit her detailed charcoal drawings of native trees on City Hall's second floor beginning April 22. Ruane says the tree is a recurring theme in her work and consists of enlarged views of branches, roots, leaves and sweeping vistas. She studies the tree's anatomy by making detailed renderings, noting the weight of the fronds, the girth of the wiry trunk and the grace of the leaves. Ruane studied art in Florence, Italy and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Otis Institute of Art in Los Angeles. She exhibits widely throughout the Valley.
Artists in Goodyear and other West Valley areas are invited to submit examples of their paintings, drawing and sculpture for display at various locations throughout the city as part of the Art in Civic Spaces program. Please submit your resume and up to 10 images of your work to email@example.com or send to: Art in Civic Spaces program, 190 N. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85338.
