Public input sought on
firehouse art project
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (May 1, 2009) ? The public is invited
to a presentation by artist Ken Williams, highlighting his past art projects
and discussing ideas for the public art project for Goodyear Fire Station 185
in PebbleCreek. Join us from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wed., May 13 in Room 117 of
Goodyear City Hall, 190 N. Litchfield Road.
A recent selection panel chose artist Ken Williams to provide art
for Fire Station 185. The city?s Art Ordinance calls for up to one percent of
the budget to be allocated for art for capital projects.
This is a preliminary meeting and he will have no finished
concepts. Following the presentation, the public will be invited to offer their
thoughts, ideas and input. When Williams has settled on a concept, he will
present that to the residents, again seeking their input.
Williams, who works primarily in
sculpted brick, has completed more than 70 public and private art commissions
nationally. He has received numerous awards for his pieces.
