Hydration Stations accept donations and offer help
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (June 15, 2009) When the temperature soars and people need water, refuge from the heat and sun, or just a place to cool down, check out the Water Hydration Stations.
The city of Goodyear and other Valley cities and organizations have teamed up with Maricopa County to collect donations of bottled water, unopened sun block, clothing and food items. The donations are used to stock several Hydration Stations throughout the Valley for people in need.
Every year, heat claims the lives of 30 to 50 Arizona residents. The "dry heat" of the desert can be deceptively dangerous.
Goodyear City Hall Lobby, 190 N. Litchfield Road at Van Buren Road, is one of several convenient drop off locations in the West Valley for donations of bottled water, sun block, clothing or food items. To learn more about other Hydration Station collection and donation sites, visit www.goodyearaz.gov and click on "The Heat is On in AZ" for a link to map. You'll also find a list of Hydration Stations for you and your family in the event that an emergency occurs and you need to seek shelter.
For additional information about Arizona heat and your health, visit the Maricopa County website.
