Goodyear names interim Deputy City
Manager and Director of Public Works
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (June 19, 2009) Two key city leaders are leaving
Goodyear: Deputy City Manager Jim Nichols and Shawn Bradford, Director of Public
Works and Water Resources.
Deputy City Manager Jim Nichols is
leaving Goodyear to become the new Deputy City Manager for the City of Las
Vegas, Nevada, beginning July 6. His last day with the city of Goodyear is June 26. Nichols has been with Goodyear for nearly four years. In addition to
his duties as deputy city manager, Nichols has also served as head of engineering
Mark Gaillard, Goodyear Fire
Chief, will become Interim Deputy City Manager and Interim Director of
Engineering Services, effective June 29. Goodyear will not be recruiting for a
new Deputy City Manager at this time, due to current budget constraints.
Gaillard will serve in an interim capacity for an indefinite period of time.
Charles McDowell, Deputy Director
of Public Works and Water Resources, will become interim director of that
department. Shawn Bradford's resignation as director of public works was
announced on June 16. Goodyear will be recruiting nationally for a permanent director.
The recruitment process is expected to take about six months.
Paul Luizzi, who is currently the Deputy
Fire Chief Assigned to Operations, will step up as Interim Fire Chief.
Battalion Chief Russ Braden will
serve as Interim Deputy Fire Chief Assigned to Operations.
