Goodyear Ballpark wins Best of the West Award
Councilmember's work with teens acknowledged
GOOODYEAR, ARIZ. (Nov. 12, 2009) Goodyear Ballpark took top honors
in the Sports category as part of Westmarc?s 2009 Best of the West Awards on
Nov. 5, recognizing outstanding contributions to the image, lifestyle and
economic development of the West Valley. Goodyear Ballpark was recognized
as a catalyst for economic activity, creating jobs and enhancing Goodyear?s
image and quality of life for our residents.
Ballpark employs nearly 300 full-time, part-time and seasonal personnel.
The economic impact to Goodyear this year was estimated at more than $21
million. That number is expected to nearly double with the addition of
the Cincinnati Reds to the facility next year.
Councilmember Joanne Osborne was also acknowledged during the Best of the West
Awards for her work with the Southwest Valley Family YMCA?s Teen Action
Council, a teen leadership group that helps teens develop personally and
professionally. The Teen Action Council won the Best of the West Award in
the Leadership category.
