Suntech Solar chooses
ARIZ. (Jan. 27, 2010)
Today Suntech Power Holdings Co. of China chose
Goodyear as the location for its first U.S. solar panel factory in North
America. The Suntech facility will initially bring
more than 75 new jobs, with as many as 200 positions in the future. The annual
economic impact to the area is estimated at nearly $10 million.
announcement was made by Gov. Jan Brewer this afternoon at the Arizona Solar
Manufacturing Symposium in downtown Phoenix, Ariz. Suntech
is one of the world's largest solar manufacturing companies, and has its U.S.
headquarters in San Francisco, California.
Suntech's Goodyear facility will be located at the
southeast corner of Cotton Lane and Elwood Street, near Amazon.com's
distribution center. The company expects to begin operations later this year.
