Goodyear breaks ground on new Park and Ride

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (May 5, 2010) Goodyear is breaking ground on the long-awaited Park and Ride facility. Once it opens, Valley Metro will be providing non-stop service to and from downtown Phoenix six times a day (three outbound, three inbound), Monday through Friday. Join us for the ceremonial tossing of the dirt!

9 a.m., Friday, May 7, behind Mimi's Cafe on Dysart Road just north of Interstate 10.

Directions: Take I-10 to Dysart Road exit and go north; move immediately to the far left lane and turn west onto Cornerstone Blvd. Park on the south side of Cornerstone Boulevard.

City of Goodyear Mayor Jim Cavanaugh will be joined by members of the City Council and representatives from Valley Metro/RPTA and Nesbitt Construction to mark the start of construction on the Goodyear Regional Park and Ride lot, designed by the Phoenix office of Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc.

Partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Goodyear Park and Ride is expected to take about six months to build and will feature more than 400 covered parking stalls, restrooms, bike lockers and other features.  When the 12-acre Park and Ride is complete, Valley Metro Route 562 will offer non-stop service to and from downtown Phoenix.
