ARIZ. (Nov. 3, 2010) Four
seats on the Goodyear Arts and Culture Commission are open, and candidates are
encouraged to apply. The deadline for submitting an application is noon,
Friday, Nov. 12. Candidates must be residents of Goodyear, and if appointed,
will serve terms of three years.

Culture Commission has eight members, guides the city's public art program, and
makes recommendations regarding projects and policy to the city council and
community ambassadors, members of the Arts and Culture Commission actively
engage the community, and:
for art in public places, arts programming and arts education
policies and priorities for Goodyear's public art program including the
allocation of funds designated annually for the Public Art Project Plan
in citizen outreach at city and neighborhood events
partnerships and opportunities with public and private organizations to foster
the encouragement of economic development and tourism.
Arts and Culture Commission believes that art enhances Goodyear's quality of
life. The Goodyear City Council, in 2006, approved both the establishment of an
Arts and Culture Commission and a Percent-for-Art Ordinance, which mandates
that up to one percent of the Capital Improvement Budget be allocated for art. Members
of the Arts and Culture Commission are dedicated volunteers who are committed
to identifying and developing a common artistic and cultural personality for
Goodyear that embraces, celebrates and unites our diverse histories, beliefs,
cultures and aspirations.
