Free sand bags for rain and flood preparation


GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (Dec. 28, 2010) Weather-watchers are preparing for heavy winter rains during the next few days, and Goodyear residents are encouraged to stock up on sand and sand bags to protect their homes and property from runoff water.


Residents can pick up sand bags, fill them with sand, and take them home for personal use. Shovels are NOT provided, so residents are advised to bring their own. Sand bags are in refuse containers adjacent to the sand piles and available at these locations:


Goodyear Community Park, north end of the parking lot, 3151 N. Litchfield Road

Roscoe Dog Park, 15600 W. Roeser Road, west of Estrella Parkway, south of MC-85


Free sand and sandbags are provided to residents courtesy of Goodyear Public Works Department.


The sand and sandbags are free, but residents must bring their own shovels.
