Recycle electronic waste

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (Jan. 19, 2011)  Don't toss those old computers, monitors, cell phones, and land line telephones, printers, cameras, PDAs, televisions, DVD players and other out-dated electronics into your trash! Recycle your old electronic waste instead, and keep pollutants out of our landfills.

Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is sponsoring a FREE regional electronic waste recycling event for the Southwest Valley from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday morning, January 29. Goodyear residents are encouraged to bring old electronics to Parking Lot G at Estrella Mountain Community College at 3000 North Dysart Road in Avondale. Refrigerators, washers and dryers will not be accepted.

Goodyear residents can also recycle electronics all year long at the Waste Management White Tanks Transfer Station, 18605 W. McDowell Road, at the corner of Perryville Road. Free drop off, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. - Noon Saturdays; closed Sundays. Only electronics with circuit boards are accepted.

For additional information, contact ADEQ Communications Director Mark Shaffer at 602-771-2215 or 480-433-9551.
