Tres Rios Nature and Earth Festival 2011
March 5 and 6
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (Jan. 28, 2011) Please join Goodyear and other West Valley communities in celebrating the rich diversity of wildlife, history and culture of the "Three Rivers" area of central Arizona during the Tres Rios Nature and Earth Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 5 and 6 at Estrella Mountain Regional Park, 14805 W. Vineyard Ave., Goodyear, Ariz.
The festival is free, but there is a $3 charge per vehicle to enter the park. Most activities are free; there are small charges for some rides.
Centered on the river corridor where the Salt River and the Agua Fria River join the Gila River, just west of the Phoenix metro area, the Tres Rios Nature and Earth Festival is a great opportunity to enjoy nature right here in the West Valley. Meet the experts and learn about local plants and animals, and the ecological relationships that make up this wonderful outdoor recreational site.
Enjoy a free fishing clinic, self-powered canoe floats, and beginners' archery tryouts. Take a bird walk with volunteers from the Sonoran Audubon Society. See local wildlife up close and learn about their habits. See hawks, owls and others animals, and learn about the threats they face every day. Vendors will offer outdoor and nature oriented arts and crafts, as well as kettlecorn and other favorite foods and beverages.
The kids' area will feature hands-on activities that teach about nature, recycling and the outdoors. The recycling and green-living zone sponsored by Luke Air Force Base is always a hit. Encourage your youngsters to enter the recycling fashion show.
Live entertainment will add to the festive atmosphere. Don't miss the family-friendly Tres Rios Nature and Earth Festival.
Directions to Estrella Mountain Regional Park, Goodyear, Ariz.: From Interstate 10, take Estrella Parkway south five miles; go east on Vineyard about ¼ mile to the park entrance on the right.
