Little hands making a big difference on Earth Day

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (April 7, 2011) A group of local second-graders have some big ideas about recycling, and they will be sharing those ideas with Goodyear leaders Monday evening.

Miss Ryann Miller's second grade class at Wildflower Elementary School in Goodyear recently wrote individual letters to the mayor, describing their thoughts on the importance of recycling. The mayor and councilmembers were so impressed by their creativity and foresightedness, they invited the class to participate in the city's recognition of Earth Day at the council meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 11. April 22 is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.

These industrious youngsters have put together an original comic book on the subject of recycling. The comic book will be presented to council at the meeting.

Goodyear's own award-winning recycling campaign mascot, Curby, will be on hand to meet and greet these forward-thinking children, and plans to have some special items for the students who attend the council presentation.

The meeting is open to the public and photography and video is encouraged! We look forward to seeing you there.
