Goodyear Selects Jeff Fiegenschuh as Deputy City Manager
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The City of Goodyear announced today that Jeff Fiegenschuh has been hired as Deputy City Manager, as announced by Interim City Manager Brian Dalke. Fiegenschuh was selected following a two-day interview process that involved four finalists from Arizona and other states. More than 177 people applied for the position.
Fiegenschuh has nine years of city management experience in municipal government, in which he has worked to develop fiscally-responsible budgets, helped update land use and zoning codes, managed municipal utilities and worked with various Chamber of Commerce organizations and other economic development agencies to promote business retention and attraction.
“I am extremely excited to take on the important role of Deputy City Manager for the City of Goodyear,” Fiegenschuh said. “This position really fits well with me because I believe in a team approach to leadership and management, and Goodyear already follows that philosophy. I look forward to helping the already established team of individuals in place continue to move this great community forward.”
Fiegenschuh was most recently Village Administrator in Shorewood, Ill., a Chicago suburb with a population of 16,000. He managed nearly 70 employees and was responsible for the management and daily operations of all Village departments, including finance, building inspection, community development, police, parks and recreation and public works.
From 2008-11, Fiegenschuh was City Manager in Princeton, Ill., a central Illinois community with a population of nearly 8,000. He oversaw nearly 100 employees and was responsible for all City departments, including finance, zoning, police, fire, electric, water, waste water, streets, sanitation and tourism. Fiegenschuh also served as City Administrator in Sac City, Iowa (2005-08) and David City, Neb. (2003-05).
“We are excited to bring a person with Jeff’s skills and experience on board,” Dalke said. “Jeff will fit in with the great culture we have established among City employees and has well-rounded experience after managing numerous departments in his municipal government career.”
Fiegenschuh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wayne State College and a Master’s in Public Administration from University of Nebraska at Omaha. He is an International City/County Management Association (ICMA) organization member and also an ICMA Credentialed City Manager.
Fiegenschuh is scheduled to begin working in his new role on Aug. 20. He and his wife, Crystal, along with their children, Courtney, Abbey and Carter, will soon establish residence in Goodyear.
