mayor released from hospital
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (Jan. 27, 2012)
Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord was released Thursday from Barrow
Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital, after being cleared by doctors
to return home.
Mayor Lord was referred to Barrow Monday evening
by West Valley Hospital, where she was first seen after experiencing transient neurologic
symptoms. The symptoms resolved on their own and without surgery, and Mayor
Lord returned home Thursday.
Mayor Lord began feeling poorly during a city
council meeting Monday night. She turned the meeting over to Vice Mayor Joanne
Osborne. She was admitted to West Valley Hospital, and subsequently transferred
to St. Joseph's Hospital Barrow Neurological Institute.
"I want to thank everyone for all the
get-well-wishes, calls, flowers and cards," said Mayor Lord. "I can't
begin to express my appreciation for such wonderful expressions of care and concern."
Mayor Lord plans to take a few days off, and
expects to return to work at City Hall sometime next week. In the meantime,
Vice Mayor Joanne Osborne will continue to serve as acting mayor and will chair
the City Council Worksession Meeting on Monday, Jan. 30.
