Linking Land Use and Transportation:

Providing a Framework for the Hidden Valley’s Transportation Needs

(PHOENIX) – The public is invited to participate in a series of community workshops to discuss how the Hidden Valley region in southwestern Maricopa County and western Pinal County can best accommodate future transportation needs. These workshops will look at how to provide mobility in an area undergoing rapid growth and development. The planning area encompasses more than 3,000 square miles, including several cities and towns, two Native American Indian communities, five wilderness areas, and the Sonoran Desert National Monument.

The study purpose is to explore, evaluate and recommend high-capacity transportation corridors to preserve the functions of Interstates 8 and 10, and to ensure interconnected roadway and transit systems that can meet long-range travel demand. The planning timeframes are 2030 and (post-2050) build-out.

The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), in partnership with the Arizona Department of Transportation, Maricopa County, Pinal County, Buckeye, Goodyear and Maricopa, is nearing the end of the Interstates 8 and10 Hidden Valley Transportation Framework Study. The three public workshops will present the recommended Transportation Framework (Roadways and Transit) to address the projected growth.

All events will start at 6:00 p.m. with a presentation at 6:15 p.m. The dates and locations are:
