Firefighters Assist Homeowners with Smoke Alarms

(Goodyear, AZ) The Goodyear Fire Dept in partnership with the United Goodyear Firefighters Local 4005 and the Foundation for Burns and Trauma Inc., will be going door to door within the Canada Village Neighborhood offering residents assistance with the installation of a Dual Sensor Smoke Alarm for their home.  The smoke alarm and installation will both be provided free of charge.  One dual sensor smoke alarm will be installed by a trained staff member to each participating resident.  Firefighters and volunteers will be going door to door in the neighborhoods on Saturday, October 9th from 8:30 am until noon installing alarms in all homes that request them.

Working smoke alarms save lives and should be installed and maintained in every home.  Roughly two-thirds of home fire deaths result from fires in homes with no smoke alarms at all or no smoke alarms that work according to National Fire Protection Association. The Goodyear Fire Department is dedicated to ensuring all homes have a working smoke alarm that will alert the resident(s) in the event of a fire.

A reminder notice will be placed on the doors in the selected neighborhood the week of October 4th, no appointments will be necessary.
